Simon McGarr was interviewed live on France 24 by Peter O’Brien about government responsibilities to protect citizens’ personal data from cyberattacks, in the context of a hack involving the French tax authority.
The interview focused on Article 32 of the GDPR, which requires organisations to put in place security measures appropriate to the risks they face.

Simon explained that this is particularly important at a time when AI is rapidly increasing the capabilities available to hackers, and that as the threat evolves, the security measures used to respond to it must evolve too.
He argued that governments need to respond at the same speed as the threat, rather than at a routine civil service pace.
